Carroll's World- Ashley's Poet

Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll)
Ashley Conrad

As a child, the fantasy and excitement of The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland overcame me as I read Lewis Carroll’s masterpiece. Only as I aged and shed my naivety did I come to realize all the dark and twisted nonsense and allusions that hide themselves throughout his literary works. The unrequited success of the Alice books often over shines Carroll’s other life accomplishments, such as his poetry. The fact that his poetry is so overlooked is what draws me to Carroll now. I hope to find the strange, magical allure that this misunderstood, zany man brought to the lives of so many adults and children alike.
