Ivor Gurney

The British poet that I have chosen for my research project is the poet, Ivor Gurney. I have chosen this poet for a variety of reasons, which include the time period in which he lived. Ivor Gurney was born during the time of World War One, so that much of his work was revolved around the central theme of the war. He lost many of his friends throughout the war, so his poetry was dedicated to their memories and to the continual fight of the other brave soldiers as they continued the battle of the century. He is not a very recognized poet, but the few poems that I have read by him so far, including his poem titled Beauty, have intrigued me to learn more about him and about his works throughout my project.
